Ordnance Survey Maps
Ordnance Survey is the national mapping agency for Great Britain, and one of the world's largest producers of maps. Ordnance Survey paper mapping includes the world-renowned OS Explorer Map series, covering England, Scotland and Wales at 1:25 000 scale, and the OS Landranger Map series of all-purpose maps at 1:50 000 scale. For a more durable product try the OS Explorer Active Maps (the same map numbers apply to the OS Explorer Maps and the OS Explorer Active Maps), these are laminated maps which last longer in wet weather conditions than paper maps. OS Explorer Active maps can be written on in non-permanent ink and permanent ink. We recommend Staedtler Lumocolor pens for permanent marking – when you have finished writing on the map (many people mark routes on in permanent ink as rain won’t wash it off) you can remove it by using methylated spirits.
