Campingaz

Campingaz logo

Campingaz was founded in France in 1949. Campingaz cylinders and stoves were commonly used by D of E Expedition groups until Trangia entered the market.  Many groups undertaking European expeditions and camps still use Campingaz because of its wide availablility in Europe.  The brand changed from Camping Gaz to Campingaz in 1998, two years after being acquired by Coleman.

Campingaz cannisters are sold all over Western Europe except Scandinavia and can be transported through EuroTunnel for groups undertaking overseas expeditions.

To fit a Campingaz cannister one inserts the Campingaz cartridge into the device which pierces it and allows the gas to flow. The canisters are held in place by a bayonet base, and are discarded when empty. They must be completely empty before they are removed from the appliance, otherwise gas will escape causing a fire hazard.
